The year 2021 brought big changes for two of our MIRACUM members, which we can look back on with both a smile and a tear. Prof. Martin Boeker and Dr. Jan Christoph have both left MIRACUM, but will still stay with the MII.
Martin Boeker, former site coordinator and scientific Data Integration Center director in Freiburg and MIRACUM representative of the MII National Steering Committee, has recently left the Breisgau region for Munich. On March 1, he took over the professorship for Medical Informatics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), succeeding Prof. Klaus Kuhn. For the MII, he will now contribute his expertise in particular to the further development and implementation of the IT architecture at the DIFUTURE sites. However, the connection to MIRACUM will remain, not least through MIDIA-Hub, the just-funded “Digitale FortschrittsHubs Gesundheit”. Together with the MIRACUM site in Erlangen, the TUM will be involved in setting up portals for both doctors and patients in order to provide a holistic picture of the patient’s medical history.
Jan Christoph, previously active for Erlangen as deputy head of MIRACUM Use Case 3 („From Knowledge to Action – IT-support for the Molecular Tumor Board„), has accepted a call to Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. There he started as junior professor for „Biomedical Data Science“ on May 1. The junior professorship is also accompanied by the scientific management of the Data Integration Center of the SMITH site Halle. At his new location, Jan Christoph will also set a focus of his work in the field of molecular tumor boards. This use case offers an opportunity to create a bridge between the MIRACUM consortium and the SMITH consortium.
We wish them both a good start and successful work. We look forward to a fruitful, cross-consortium collaboration in the future!
