The publication of „Prototypical Clinical Trial Registry Based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR): Design and Implementation Study“ in January 2021 now even received international attention. In July, author Christian Gulden, MIRACUM-UC1 coordinator, received an invitation from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to present the results of the study to the staff. The focus will be on the practical application of FHIR as an interoperability standard in the context of clinical trials.
We are pleased about the recognition of the international community, which the MIRACUM-UC1 team received, and we are happy to comply with this request. The exchange with the experts from the United States will now take place on 14.09.21 via Zoom.
Christian Gulden, MSc. is a research associate at the Department of Medical Informatics, Biometrics and Epidemiology of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg. Since 2018, he has been conducting research on IT-supported patient recruitment and trial registries and, as a MIRACUM coordinator, is leading Use Case 1, which ultimately aims to optimize the conduct of clinical trials and contribute to providing novel and promising therapy options to patients.
