MIRACUM’s Prof. Dr. Sedlmayr appointed as a member of The National Expert Committee for Interoperability in the Healthcare Sector

In a recent press release gematik announces the start of the work of The National Expert Committee for Interoperability in the Healthcare Sector.
We are very pleased to have Prof. Dr. Sedlmayr, Professor of Medical Informatics, TU Dresden, with research interests in Intelligent Information Systems (process-oriented and knowledge-based systems), Communication Systems and Knowledge Management, as one of the renowned experts on this board.

The National Expert Committee on Healthcare Interoperability is an entity under the Health IT Interoperability Governance Regulation (HIGV). The body has been newly established and will start work for the first time in 2022. Its task will be to promote interoperability in the German healthcare system independently, transparently and with commitment. To this end, standards will not simply be listed. Rather, needs and possible solutions will be identified and recommended. In doing so, it will also be important to consider the framework conditions under which the standards can develop their potential.

After all, there is no shortage of standards. Rather, they need to be meaningfully combined and further developed in such a way that they enable collaboration in the healthcare system to be safe, effective and efficient. As a representative of science, I am pleased to be able to contribute to this responsible and important task.”, says Prof. Dr. Sedlmayr.
The nominated experts have accepted their appointment by gematik in agreement with the Federal Ministry of Health. The initial membership of the seven-member expert panel combines many years of expertise, medical practice experience, and diversity as a group. The seven full members are:
