Last Saturday, the MIRACUM_Standort was represented by the Data Integration Center of the University Hospital Erlangen and the medical informatics initiative Use Case “Aligning Biobanking and DIC Efficiently” (ABIDE_MI), represented by the Central Biobank Erlangen, as an exhibitor at the “Long Night of Science”.
The public from the region could inform themselves about the processes and goals of the work in the Erlangen Data Integration Center. Employees from the DIZ and the associated trust office answered the many questions of the visitors. Those who had the time and the inclination could immediately apply what they had just learned in a small quiz.
The Central Biobank Erlangen also offered the opportunity to extract DNA preparations from bananas and tomatoes. Bringing the “lab to the people” was the motto here. Putting on the latex gloves and following the instructions and explanations, everyone succeeded and, above all, was able to learn something exciting. The younger guests were not the only ones who showed great interest.
We would like to thank our colleagues for their support and cooperation and look forward to next year.
